A word from Art Luna.

Good Friday.
The Knights of Columbus spent Good Friday at the Chapel of the Barstow Veterans Home in Barstow California. Brother Victomir Petrovic and his Wife of Catholic Prision ministries had a special showing of the Mel Gibson Movie the "Passion" at 3:00 p.m. Brother Knights Eddie U. Garcia and Anthony Topete as council #1830 VAVS representitives.

Good Friday 3:00p.m. the time the Lord's Passion began.
Many of these Veterans can no longer out to observe tradional church services so this was the perfect oppertunity for the Knights to present this movie. And the Veterans thought this was a great way to spend Good Friday they were very happy to see us there. As was the staff of the veterans Home.
Once again a Special thanks to Bill Jackson.
Bill Jackson invited Knights of Columbus to the Veterans Home to Show the Mel Gibson movie. Saying that this what the residents want and this is what they need. Once again Bill you were right on.

Next project in the planning stage is Texas Hold'em.
We are planning a trip to the Barstow Veterans Home to teach the veterans how to play Texas Hold'em. And then to hold a mini Texas Hold'm tornaument! The VAVS program is off and running!

The Knights of Columbus is planning to build a BBQ for the Chapel.
We have been asked by the residents of the Barstow Veterans Home to build a BBQ outside the Chapel and approved by the Staff. Lord willing this should be a reality by May!

Knights in Action

Council#1830 has a long legacy of service here in Barstow Californa. As seen here in these old photo's of brother Knights in Action in 1961. From Fray Garces Council#1830.We are very proud to carry on this legacy of service but we are even prouder of the younger members of our council like Brother's Jesse Topete, Robert Silva, and Lil Moe Lessard that will carry on this proud and noble tradition to another generation of Council#1830 Knights in service!
